School boost for ID cards
THE CITY IS launching a new effort to get more teens to sign up for its new ID card by putting enrollment centers in some schools, the Daily News has learned.
City Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña will kick off the campaign Wednesday morning by signing up for her own IDNYC card at Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn.
The free card is available to city residents who are at least 14 — including undocumented immigrants — and is considered official government-issued identification. It also provides the cardholder with benefits such as free memberships to cultural institutions and discounts at Modell’s Sporting Goods and events at the Barclays Center.
