Giuliani to Don: Skip debates
TAIF YOU CAN’T beat them — just beat it.
That was the advice former mayor and Donald Trump surrogate Rudy Giuliani gave the GOP nominee following his shaky performance at Monday’s debate against Hillary Clinton.
“If I were Donald Trump, I wouldn’t participate in another debate unless I was promised that the journalist would act like a journalist and not an incorrect, ignorant fact-checker,” Giuliani told reporters late Monday at the spin room at Hofstra University.
Lester Holt, the “NBC Nightly News” anchor who moderated the debate, was the target of whining from many Trump supporters for following up with Trump after telling several untruths.
Trump initially said Holt “did a great job,” but by Tuesday he had begun accusing him of being unfair.
“He didn’t ask her about the emails at all. He didn’t ask her about her scandals. He didn’t ask her about the Benghazi deal that she destroyed,” Trump said.
Still, the Trump camp Tuesday quickly ruled out any chance the nominee would miss the next two debates.
“Of course,” Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said when asked if Trump would participate.
