Right-wing cheers for Freddie Gray cops
THREE OF THE SIX Baltimore cops accused and then cleared of charges in the horrific death of Freddie Gray received standing ovations at a gala.
The officers were feted at the Virginia-based right-wing Media Research Center’s annual black-tie gala, where honorary speakers downplayed the seriousness of police brutality in the U.S.
Gray, 25, was handcuffed last year when he was placed, unsecured, in the back of a police van. He suffered severe spinal injuries that proved fatal.
“In April of last year, six Baltimore police officers were transporting Freddie Gray to jail and he died en route,” frequent Fox News contributor Deneen Borelli told audience members at the Thursday event. Gray actually died in a hospital several days later.
The conservative crowd broke out in deafening cheers and applause as Borelli called up Lt. Brian Rice and Officers Edward Nero and Garrett Miller.
