O’s rally, beat Jays in 9th

Hyun Soo Kim hit a pinch-hit, two-run homer in the ninth inning off Roberto Osuna, and Baltimore beat host Toronto, 3-2, on Wednesday night to move within one game of the AL wild card-leading Blue Jays.

With Toronto ahead 2-1, Jonathan Schoop singled with one out, pinch-runner Michael Bourn stole second and Kim homered on a 3-2 pitch into the visiting bullpen in right.

l Kendrys Morales and Alex Gordon keyed an eighth-inning rally and Kansas City beat Minnesota at home, 5-2, but the Royals were still knocked out of playoff contention. The defending World Series champs were eliminated when Baltimore beat Toronto 3-2.

l Robinson Cano hit a three-run homer in the first inning, and Seattle beat host Houston, 12-4. The win maintains pressure on Baltimore for the second AL wild card.

l Adam Duvall’s two-run single was all Cincinnati needed as the Reds beat St. Louis on the road, 2-1. The Reds’ third win in their last four games dealt a blow to the Cardinals’ playoff hopes. St. Louis lost ground in the race for the two NL wild cards, falling 21/2 games behind the Mets.

WATT’S SEASON LIKELY OVER

J.J. Watt is out until at least December season.

Over his past eight games, Betances has allowed 10 earned runs over six innings for a 15.00 ERA, giving up 11 hits and eight walks, striking out nine. He’s also struggled with his fielding and hasn’t been able to hold runners on base, a continuing problem all season.… Masahiro Tanaka played catch on Tuesday, and while the righthande­r appeared to be past the flexor mass strain that caused him to miss Monday’s start, it is still not a lock that he’ll make his final start of the season this weekend. and could miss the rest of the season with an injured back, leaving the Texans searching for ways to deal with the loss of the NFL’s best defensive player.

Watt was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday, which means he’ll be out for a minimum of eight weeks.

l Dez Bryant has a slight hairline fracture in a bone in his right knee, though Dallas coach Jason Garrett says the receiver might not miss a game. Bryant didn’t practice Wednesday, three days after getting hurt in a win over Chicago, and the same day the team got back results of an MRI.

l The Dolphins have ruled out C Mike Pouncey (hip), RB Arian Foster (groin), TE Jordan Cameron (concussion) and LB Koa Misi for Thursday’s game at Cincinnati.

ISLES, DEVILS ON DEFENSIVE

The Islanders signed veteran defenseman Dennis Seidenberg to a one-year deal worth $1 million, according to a league source.

l The Devils signed veteran defenseman Kyle Quincey to a $1.25 million contract for the upcoming season.

l In Allentown, Pennsylvan­ia, Travis Konecny had a goal and an assist in the second period in Philadelph­ia’s 2-0 victory over the Devils.
