Andy Senate split

- Kenneth Lovett

NOT EVERY Democrat can count Gov. Cuomo in their corner.

The governor raised eyebrows at a fund-raiser in the city Tuesday for Senate Democrats by saying he would oppose fellow Dems who aren’t on board with his socially progressive, fiscally conservative agenda.

While it was unclear which Dems he was dissing, Cuomo said he wants a Democrat-controlled Senate that can pass initiatives like a state DREAM Act and campaign finance and ethics reforms. He said the party would likely have to work with the breakaway Independent Democratic Conference for control. But there are some Dems, the governor said, who “frankly, I won’t go near.”
