- Rich Schapiro

ERIC GARNER’S family expressed hope Tuesday after learning that a new team had taken over the federal probe. “I’m very pleased about it,” Esaw Garner, his widow, told the Daily News. “But I don’t want to count my chickens before they hatch.” The Rev. Al Sharpton said he expects investigators will “leave no stone unturned” in the probe. “Eric Garner had the civil right not to be choked to death against departmental guidelines,” Sharpton said. “I believe the Justice Department had been dragging its feet, but is now finally serious about pursuing justice and bringing charges” against Officer Daniel Pantaleo, said his daughter Erica Garner.
