Community cops coming to class
CITY OFFICIALS are expanding a program to build a cozier relationship between cops and students.
Pubic schools across the Big Apple kicked off a program called Team Up!, inviting officers from 72 NYPD precincts to more than 350 elementary schools in 2015.
Now the program is expanding to include more than 300 junior high schools, Chancellor Carmen Fariña and Police Commissioner James O’Neill said on a visit to Hunts Point Middle School in the Bronx on Tuesday.
“Our goal is to get better communication and better dialogue between the police officers and their local school,” Fariña said of the expansion.
