Finest care for neglected dog
SOME big-hearted members of New York’s Finest are helping a neglected pooch get ready for a loving home.
The 4-year-old pit bull mix named Jamie was skin and bones when cops pulled her from a Brooklyn apartment in April. After being treated at the ASPCA, the pup (photo inset) has beefed up and is looking for an owner who will treat her like a princess.
Police officers who serve as liaisons between the ASPCA and the NYPD took Jamie for a play date in Riverside Park last week. She also got some attention during a visit to the 20th Precinct stationhouse in Manhattan.
“All the officers absolutely loved spending time with her,” said NYPD Sgt. Maria Sexton of Patrol Borough Manhattan North. “She has a lot of love to give.”
Officials said more than 850 animals have been helped through the ASPCA-NYPD partnership so far this year, including Jamie, who was living in a house of horrors when she was rescued.
