Sea returns dad’s letter

Some 50 million were trying to catch ’em all after the game’s record-breaking summer debut, but the app market analyst Apptopia reported that number plummeted to 32.4 million as of September.

The data analysts at Slice Intelligen­ce also reported Pokémon Go’s ingame paying population (the players who spend real money to buy “lures” and “Poké balls” to catch the cute, imaginary monsters) dropped by 79% as of midSeptemb­er. A FAMILY IN New Hampshire received a message in a bottle written by their father, who has since died, more than 50 years ago — after it was found 1,500 miles away.

Clint Buffington, a teacher from Utah, was vacationin­g in the Turks and Caicos when he noticed a Coca-Cola bottle lodged in the sand.

“It looked like it had been there since the beginning of time,” Buffington told WMUR-TV of New Hampshire.

Inside, Buffington could read enough words to locate its intended destinatio­n — the Pierce family, owners of the Beachcomer Motel just off the coast in Hampton, N.H. The 1960 note reads, “Return to 419 Ocean Blvd. and receive a reward of $150 from Tina, owner of the Beachcombe­r.”

Paula Pierce’s father, Paul Pierce, penned the message, and she insisted on ponying up the reward to Buffington.
