Book says Knight routinely put squeeze on Hoosiers

- BY NICHOLAS PARCO

IT’S NO secret that Bobby Knight had controversial coaching methods, but one of his former players at Indiana claims he routinely crossed the line in a troubling way.

In his new autobiography “Jadlow: On The Rebound,” Todd Jadlow, who played under Knight as a Hoosier from 1985-1989, alleges the coach broke a clipboard over his head, routinely squeezed players by their testicles and once ordered team managers to post photos of female genitalia in a player’s locker, among other antics.

Knight was fired from Indiana in 2000 after footage of him choking Neil Reid three seasons earlier was discovered, but according to Jadlow, he had been acting harshly toward players for years.

Jadlow, who claimed Knight once punched him in the back of the head during the walkthrough of an NCAA Tournament game against Seton Hall, says teammate Daryl Thomas was the coach’s favorite target.

Thomas’ locker was once plastered by photos of female genitalia and Knight had a habit of throwing tampons at him, all because the coach thought he was “a f-----g p---y,” according to Jadlow.

Despite the bombshell claims, Jadlow, who won a national championship at Indiana in 1987, told WTHR in an interview that he still loves Knight “like a father” and reached out to the coach multiple times for comment before the book hit shelves on Oct. 15.

“I’m a Knight guy, I’m proud to have played for him and love him like a father; let’s not mistake that,” Jadlow said. "But this was the life we led when we were playing for him.”

Outside of his time at Indiana, “On The Rebound” tells the story of Jadlow’s struggle with drugs and depression.
