From their family to yours, bring Cibao home for the holidays

-

Whether you’re gathering over a turkey or a roast, cooking greens, flipping latkes or baking cookies, the holidays revolve around food and family. Cibao Meat Products has taken that food and family connection and built a thriving business in the Bronx, producing delicious, traditional salamis and other meat products that your family will love.

Cibao got started in 1969 when founder Siegfried Vieluf arrived in New York from the Dominican Republic. Of German descent, Vieluf had built a sausage business in the Dominican Republic, and then started fresh when he moved to the U.S. Today, the third generation of the family business is preparing to expand their production facility by moving to a new space with triple their current capacity. Jaline Isidor, Vieluf’s granddaughter and the marketing director for Cibao, says that they are excited to expand their already extensive product line and bring new creativity to the business. Cibao still makes many of the original products that Vieluf developed as he built the business with his children, including the Salami Campesino. “That’s the original, the daddy of all salamis, the first one,” says Isidor. Over the years, they’ve expanded their product line to reflect the many interests, cultures and markets in New York City. “It’s no longer just for one community,” she explains. “We’ve expanded and the love for salami has expanded too.” Isidor sent The Daily News one of their family’s favorite recipes using Salami Campesino Especial for your holiday table, to make your holiday even more delicious.
