Report: Giant’s home vandalized with slurs, swastika

- BY EBENEZER SAMUEL

A GIANT reportedly became the latest victim of the wave of hate crimes that has been sweeping through the tri-state area.

On Wednesday, CBS New York reported that Nikita Whitlock’s home had been broken into and vandalized a night earlier, and the alleged intruders had scrawled racist messages all over the walls.

Whitlock, 25, who has spent the entire season on injured reserve, came home to a graffiti swastika, according to CBS New York, as well as “KKK” and “Go back to Africa” messages scrawled on the walls inside his Moonachie home.

“It just re-establishes that no matter where you are, no matter who you are, this

can happen to you,” Whitlock told CBS New York.

“It’s very disgusting, actually. It’s very disheartening,” added his wife, Ashley Whitlock. “You hear about things that do happen, but you never think, ‘Oh, this could happen to me.’”

This reportedly isn’t the first time Whitlock, who has been with the Giants since 2014 but has lived in his Moonachie apartment for six months, has had his home breached.

CBS New York reported that the apartment was also broken into around Thanksgiving, and police continue to investigate that incident.

In the latest incident, Whitlock said he, his wife and their two children were gone for only a few hours, then returned to see their apartment ransacked.

Jewelry and video game consoles were taken, although the news broadcast showed several laptops and other electronics untouched.

Whitlock remains most shocked, however, by the graffiti images that still adorn the walls of his home.

“It’s about to be 2017,” he said. “Oppression, violence, racism, hatred, violence . . . there’s no need for that.”
