Ag choice is last in cabinet crop

- Denis Slattery

PRESIDENT-ELECT Donald Trump will complete his cabinet nominations Thursday, announcing former Georgia governor Sonny Perdue as his pick to head the Agriculture Department, according to The Associated Press.

The agriculture secretary job was the final cabinet position Trump needed to fill.

Perdue, 70, served on Trump’s agricultural advisory committee during his campaign.

During his two terms as governor, the Republican worked on water management projects and making changes to the tax code that were beneficial to farmers, said Jeffrey Harvey, legislative director for the Georgia Farm Bureau.

He later founded Perdue Partners, a global trading firm that provides services for companies looking to export products.
