Now it’s 49¢ a stamp

WASHINGTON — It’s going to cost you more to mail a letter.

The cost of buying a Forever Stamp increased 2 cents Sunday to 49 cents.

The Postal Service cited several reasons behind the price increase — including adjustments for gas in mail trucks, wages and the maintenance costs for its buildings.

This is the first time since 2015 that the price of a stamp went up.

Despite the increase, the cost to mail a postcard, international letters and additional weight will all remain the same this year.
