Slain trying to stop mall stickup men

A GOOD Samaritan was shot to death trying to stop a robbery at a San Antonio mall Sunday.

Two stickup men robbed a Kay Jewelers store at Rolling Oaks Mall about 3:30 p.m., Police Chief William McManus said.

The thieves fled through the mall and came across two men who tried to intervene. One of the robbers opened fire and fatally shot one of the men. The second man had a concealed-carry license and returned fire at the suspect, wounding him, McManus said.
