Prez gives a shoutout to Comey
PRESIDENT TRUMP gave a big “thank you” to law enforcement officials at a ceremony Sunday, but none bigger than to FBI Director James Comey — the man many credit with handing him the White House.
It was Comey who waited until the last minute to reopen an investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails, an eleventhhour probe Democrats say cost Clinton the election.
Days later, Comey once again cleared Clinton for her use of a private email server. By then, critics said, the damage had been done.
Trump, at a White House ceremony honoring the service of law enforcement officials, called Comey over and gave the director a handshake before whispering something in his ear (photo).
“Oh, there’s James,” Trump said after spotting Comey on the other side of the Blue Room. “He’s become more famous than me.”
During the campaign, Trump criticized Comey for his role in the probe only to praise him when he took a second look at Clinton’s emails.
