Hires flunk FBI checks

- Elizabeth Elizalde Minyvonne Burke

SEVERAL WHITE House staffers were given the boot Thursday because they didn’t pass FBI background checks, according to a report.

Sources familiar with the matter told Politico that six employees were escorted from the White House by security because they failed to pass the Questionnaire for National Security Positions used for security clearances.

Among those shown the door was Caroline Wiles, President Trump’s director of scheduling. She’s the daughter of Susan Wiles, Trump’s Florida campaign director and ex-chief of staff for Gov. Rick Scott (R-Fla.).

Caroline Wiles will reportedly work for the Treasury Department instead, sources told Politico.

The reported dismissals came during a turbulent week for the Trump administration.

Michael Flynn was fired as national security adviser Monday night after he admitted he misled senior White House officials, including Vice President Pence, about conversations he had with the Russian ambassador to the U.S. about sanctions imposed by the Obama administration.

Trump’s labor secretary nominee, fast-food CEO Andrew Puzder, withdrew Wednesday after allegations of spousal abuse cost him Republican support.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment. WHOOPI Goldberg is sitting by Tiffany Trump.

Goldberg — a critic of President Trump — came to the First Daughter’s defense and offered to sit next to her at upcoming New York Fashion Week shows after magazine editors refused to sit next to her at a show this week.

Goldberg said she thought the editors had been “mean.”

“Tiffany, I’m coming to sit with you, because nobody’s talking politics,” Goldberg said on “The View” on Wednesday. “You’re looking at fashion. She doesn’t want to talk about her dad.”

Trump, 23, responded a short time later on Twitter.

“Thank you @WhoopiGoldberg I’d love to sit with you too!” she wrote.
