Rutgers loses late to surging Northweste­rn

EVANSTON, Ill. — Bryant McIntosh scored 18 points as Northweste­rn edged Rutgers, 69-65, on Saturday to keep its NCAA Tournament hopes alive.

Dererk Pardon added 12 points for the Wildcats (20-7, 9-5 Big Ten), who matched their school record for victories in a season. Corey Sanders led Rutgers (13-15, 2-13) with 17 points and Nigel Johnson had 16. Eugene Omoruyi and C.J. Gettys added 10 apiece for the Scarlett Knights, who have the second-longest NCAA Tournament drought among Power 5 conference teams. They haven’t made the tournament since 1991.

McIntosh hit the 3 to give Northweste­rn a 65-63 lead, the Wildcats’ first since they were ahead 43-41.

FORDHAM 54, SAINT LOUIS 40: Antwoine Anderson made four 3s and scored a season-high 20 points, Javontae Hawkins added 17 points and three blocks, and host Fordham (12-15) allowed its fewest points in a game this season.

STONY BROOK 76, BINGHAMTON 55: Akwasi Yeboah had 19 points on 7-of11 shooting and Tyrell Sturdivant scored all 10 of his points in the second half to lead Stony Brook (17-10).

DARTMOUTH 80, COLUMBIA 79 (OT): Taylor Johnson scored 18 points and made a layup with a second left in overtime to sink visiting Columbia.

LIU 83, SACRED HEART 82: Iverson Fleming scored 24 points and Jerome Frink’s free throw with 10.4 seconds left was the difference for host LIU.

Raiquan Clark scored 17 points, Jashaun Agosto 14 and Nura Zanna added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Blackbirds (18-11, 11-5).

ARMY 71, NAVY 68: Jordan Fox scored 22 points with a career-high five 3-pointers, including a go-ahead 3 late that helped Army (11-17) overcome a 25-point deficit in Bethlehem, Pa.

Up nine at halftime, Navy opened the second half with a 10-0 run and led by as many as 25 after outscoring Army 21-7 with 11:42 left.

NJIT 60, STETSON 56: Reilly Walsh hit a clutch 3-pointer with 49 seconds to go and combined with Tim Coleman to make 3 of 4 free throws in the last 21 seconds as host NJIT (10-19) capped a late comeback.

UNC-WILMINGTON 83, HOFSTRA 76: Chris Flemmings scored 27 points, including a key tip-in, to lift visiting North Carolina-Wilmington. Hofstra (13-16, 5-11) got 26 points from Justin Wright-Foreman, who sank all 15 of his free throws.

MOUNT ST. MARY’S 79, FDU 74: In Teaneck, Mount St. Mary’s rallied to stay in sole possession of first place in the Northeast Conference. The Knights (11-16, 9-7), who have lost three straight. —AP
