Tagain, according to one former “Happy Days” star, who says the show is due for a comeback. (photo), who played basketball coach Roger Phillips in the hugely popular show set in the 1950s, says Netflix should make “Happy Days” its next sitcom revival project. “Happy Days should come back — 100%,” the forever handsome comedic actor told us at AARP’s Movies for Grownups Awards in Beverly Hills. “It would be fun to see what Fonzie is today, right? It would be fun to see all those stories.” In the past year, Netflix has brought back hit-coms including “Arrested Development,” “Full House,” “Gilmore Girls” and “Degrassi.” Just getting to see return as Arthur Fonzarelli would be a seismic event, said McGinley, whose character, a nephew of Howard and Marian Cunningham, was added on after the departure of who played Richie Cunningham. “Happy Days” aired on ABC from 1974 to 1984.
“I would give anything just to watch that,” said McGinley, 58. “Henry is a force and he’s one of the most loved characters in America ... if you ask him to do it, in two seconds he can get it back.”
McGinley, who also appeared on “Dynasty,” “The Love Boat” and “Married . . . With Children” has some plot lines in mind. “I have a theory that Fonzie’s kids would probably have ended up being very well-educated and the ones who were really on top of the heap,” he said. “(The other guys’) kids would be probably not be attending school, and they would be going toward car repair and Fonzie’s world. Things flip after a while, right?” “Happy Days” aside, McGinley said he would be up for a raft of his hit shows coming back.
“The other one would be ‘The Love Boat.’ You could do that forever,” he said. “Then ‘Married ... With Children,’ of course. I’ll always say, ‘Yes, of course that would work. Where do I sign?’ ”
