Penn St. trustee losing ‘sympathy’ for ‘victims’

-

A Penn State trustee says he’s “running out of sympathy” for “so-called victims” of former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky following the conviction of a former Penn State president over his handling of a 2001 complaint about Sandusky.

The comments by Al Lord were reported Thursday by The Chronicle of Higher Education. The chairman of Penn State’s board says Lord’s comments don’t reflect the views of the board or the university.

Chairman Ira Lubert says the university’s “thoughts remain” with Sandusky’s victims.

Sandusky was convicted of sexually abusing 10 boys and is serving a decades-long prison term. He is appealing.

LANCE BACK IN NBA

The Indiana Pacers are bringing back Lance Stephenson.

More than two years after the brash 6-foot-5 guard from Brooklyn left in free agency, the Pacers re-signed Stephenson on Thursday — just in time to fill a gaping hole as they try to make a final playoff push.

The Pacers are hoping Stephenson can breathe life back into a team that has faded in recent weeks. With two straight losses, Indiana fell from a tie for the No. 5 spot in the Eastern Conference on Tuesday into the No. 8 position heading into Thursday night. Chicago, which has an easier closing stretch, is just 1.5 games behind Indiana.

In his first four seasons with Indiana, Stephenson averaged 9.1 points and 4.4 rebounds.
