Well, THIS secret source is all right
PRESIDENT TRUMP cited a day-old Fox News report early Saturday as proof that the probes of his administration’s alleged ties to Russia are politically motivated.
The commander-in-chief, despite his oft-repeated disdain for anonymous sources, tweeted about the Fox story based on comments from an unidentified congressional source.
“Wow, @FoxNews just reporting big news,” read the 140-character missive. “Source: ‘Official behind unmasking is high up. Known Intel official is responsible. Some unmasked .... .. not associated with Russia. Trump team spied on before he was nominated.’ “If this is true, does not get much bigger. Would be sad for U.S.”
Fox reported that Trump associates were identified in intelligence reports “for political purposes” — and the person responsible was a well-known, senior intelligence official.
Rep. Devin Nunes, head of the House Intelligence Committee, has said he saw new information from an unidentified source that raised concerns about the circulation of communications linked to Trump associates.
Trump — as he has done since accusing the Obama administration of wiretapping Trump Tower — produced no evidence or corroboration of the Fox report.
Both the House and the Senate are investigating the Russian charges, and the FBI is conducting a counterintelligence probe into Russian interference during the 2016 presidential campaign.
