6. Terry Collins Wins NL Manager Of The Year/A.J. Hinch AL Manager of Year

in an offense that finished 11th in the AL in scoring and 12th in home runs. Scouts this spring raved about Sanchez and Bird, who have both proven they can do damage in the big leagues, but nobody seems sure about whether Judge can cut down on his strikeouts enough to make his power a major asset. I think he will, in part because he’s improved at every level over time in his career, and he’s a smart kid who hits to all fields and doesn’t overswing. If Judge does become a force, folks in the Bronx will be giddy about where the Yankee rebuild is headed.

matter, if healthy the Nationals’ starting pitching could be close to as dominant as that of the Mets. But in trading Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez, plus another minor league pitcher, for Eaton, the Nationals have left themselves perilously thin in the starting rotation.

Stephen Strasburg gets hurt every year, and Joe Ross missed nearly half of last season with a shoulder injury. You can make the case the Mets have more injury-related concerns in their starting rotation, but they also have more proven depth to deal with them.

At some point I think the Nationals will wish they’d held onto their No. 6 and 7 starters.

I can hear the Mets’ fans howling already, but think about it: the Cubs are heavy favorites in the NL East, and after Joe Maddon nearly blew the World Series, he’s not winning the award. The Dodgers’ Dave Roberts won it last year, so he’s not getting it in ’17.

If the Mets win the NL East, as I’m predicting, Collins will be the odds-on favorite unless some team comes out of nowhere to win a wild card spot.

Hinch represents the wave of the future, a sabermetrically-educated, player-friendly manager. He’ll get the nod when the ‘Stros win the AL West. rebound from his World Series-hangover season.

Nobody overmatches hitters like Noah Syndergaard when he’s right, but deGrom has what one scout calls “an uncanny feel for reading swings and knowing what pitch to make to put hitters away,’’ as well as his own arsenal of elite stuff.

As for Sanchez, the Blue Jays may always regret giving up Syndergaard in the R.A. Dickey trade, but at least Sanchez, whom they ruled off-limits at the time, is living up their expectations.
