KASPERI KAPANEN scored his second goal of the game 11:53 into the second overtime, Frederik Andersen made 47 saves and the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Washington Capitals 4-3 Saturday night in Game 2 to even the firstround series.

Kapanen also scored in regulation for Toronto along with James van Riemsdyk and Morgan Rielly, and Andersen made several big stops to keep the Maple Leafs alive.

Alex Ovechkin, John Carlson and Nicklas Backstrom scored for the top-seeded Capitals.

l Dion Phaneuf scored at 1:59 of overtime and the Ottawa Senators rallied for a 4-3 victory over the visiting Boston Bruins.

The Senators rallied from a 3-1 deficit with a two-goal third period to force overtime. The Eastern Conference series is tied 1-1 and Game 3 is Monday night in Boston.

Clarke MacArthur, Chris Wideman and Derick Brassard also scored for the Senators and Craig Anderson made 26 saves.

Drew Stafford, Tim Schaller and Patrice Bergeron scored for the Bruins. Tuukka Rask stopped 25 shots.

l Columbus Blue Jackets forward Matt Calvert has been suspended one game for his cross-check to Pittsburgh’s Tom Kuhnhackl late in the third period of a Game 2 loss to the Penguins.

Calvert will miss Game 3 Sunday. Calvert received a minor penalty for cross-checking on Friday when he chased down Kuhnhackl away from the play and hit the Penguins forward in the head with his stick.

PEE WEE WINS IT

Pee Wee Reese won the second race at Santa Anita on the 70th anniversar­y of his former Brooklyn Dodgers teammate Jackie Robinson breaking baseball’s color barrier. Ridden by Joe Talamo, Pee Wee Reese led all the way in the one-mile turf race to win by 1 1/4 lengths.

l Classic Empire charged from outside through the stretch to win the $1 million Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn Park and clinch a spot in next month’s Kentucky Derby.
