CHICAGO — Eric Thames homered in his club record-tying fifth straight game as the Milwaukee Brewers turned back the Chicago Cubs, 6-3, Monday night.

Ryan Braun and Jeff Bandy also went deep for Milwaukee, the only team to hit as many as three homers in a game off Chicago starter John Lackey (1-2) last season.

The Cubs lost for a fourth straight time, their worst stretch since a five-game skid from July 5-9 last season.

MARINERS 6, MARLINS 1: Robinson Cano and Nelson Cruz hit consecutive first-inning homers as host Seattle won its fourth straight. Former Mariner Ichiro Suzuki was honored before the game for getting his 3,000th hit last season, then got another ovation before his first at-bat in the third inning. He went 0-for-3.

RANGERS 7, A’S 0: A.J. Griffin (2-0) pitched six scoreless innings in his return to Oakland Coliseum.
