If it’s your birthday

- BY ERIC FRANCIS COPPOLINO

You’re at the stage in life where your relationships must be based on desire and not on need. For some, this is a subtle distinction, though the difference involves whether you give away your power. If you want someone, that’s your option. If you think you need someone, your independence is compromised. Desire is much more fun, and suits you better. You share a birthday with Johannes Brahms, Amy Heckerling and Eagle-Eye Cherry.

ARIES

MARCH 21-APRIL 19 If you find yourself with a new relationship prospect, by all means have fun; though also listen for whether the person you’re connecting with is open to the spiritual side of life. You need meaning in your relationships as much as anything else. Listen carefully and give things time to develop.

TAURUS

APRIL 20-MAY 20 You may have a brilliant solution to a work-related problem; though make sure you get approval from higher-ups be- fore implementing it. You work within an authority structure; granted, one where you have considerable freedom. Just make sure you demonstrate your respect. Everyone will be happier.

GEMINI

MAY 21-JUNE 20 This is an important week to be mindful of integrity in all forms. You’re a charming person with considerable power of persuasion. Use that judiciously, since people will pretty much believe anything you say. Stick to what’s real, what you know for sure, and what you can actually deliver.

CANCER

JUNE 21-JULY 22 If you’ve been on a campaign to improve or upgrade your living space, you’ll take a big jump in that project this week. If you haven’t received the memo, Jupiter -- in the angle of your chart associated with feathering your own nest -- is saying it’s time to do exactly that.

LEO

JULY 23-AUG. 22 Be generous with praise and keep your criticism to yourself. You’ll have a tendency to speak up this week, and the only thing you want coming back to you through the pipeline is how wonderful you think everyone is. If you have a concern with someone, save it for another time.

VIRGO

AUG. 23-SEPT. 22 Take it easy on the financial planning; invest your energy in solving problems and getting clear with your partners. Any mess that was made over the past few weeks during Mercury retrograde can be solved with a few well-reasoned decisions and a bit of mutual cooperation.

LIBRA

SEPT. 23-OCT. 22 You can afford to let partners take the lead this week; it would be excellent diplomacy. It would also be supportive of someone close to you, who is doing their best to make the right choices for themselves, and needs a few extra attempts to get that right. Don’t worry, you won’t be misled.

SCORPIO

OCT. 23-NOV. 21 Devote some time today to remembering any unresolved issues hanging over your head at work. It’s not as bad as you might think, and you have the ability to knock any problems off your list one by one, as long as you have that list. Include fixing anything that annoys you.

SAGITTARIUS

NOV. 22-DEC. 21 Sunday may not be your favorite night to go out, though tonight you’ll meet some interesting people if you socialize. You’re making your way in the world, and there’s one sure thing that can help: as many people as possible knowing who you are and what you do.

CAPRICORN

DEC. 22-JAN. 19 You may discover a professional advantage or opportunity, and you would be wise to take it. It might be a bit of information about your reputation or how you’re perceived by others, which gives you a clue what to develop and how to proceed with your most cherished plans.

AQUARIUS

JAN. 20-FEB. 18 One thing to bear in mind is that there are many possibilities, and you have numerous options available. From time to time, you get the feeling that the walls are closing in, which is purely a mental phenomenon. In truth, the world is as open to you, as you are to it.

PISCES

FEB. 19-MARCH 20 You’ll get some welcome financial news today, which in turn will remind you that you have your charm back. It’s been a rough few weeks of Mercury retrograde (which ended this past Wednesday), but you learned a few tricks -- including using all of your advantages, not just some of them.
