Shopping should be fun, for Mother’s Day and every day at The Mall at Bay Plaza

-

It’s not too late to get the perfect Mother’s Day gift that will show your mom just how special she is to you. You can find all this and more at The Mall at Bay Plaza, conveniently located at exit 11 off I-95 and Hutchinson River Parkway.

Getting mom the latest hightech gadget is always a great idea. How about some cool wireless Bluetooth headphones for her afternoon stroll or workout tunes? Perhaps she’d love a fashion-forward smartwatch or fitness tracker in her favorite color that will record her steps in ultimate style. There’s always a cute cover for her phone or tablet — you can even get a custom one that’s covered with photos of her children or grandchildren.

Does she love to cook or entertain? Stop in at Macy’s or JC Penney. There are a ton of culinary gifts out there that her inner chef will love. A fancy juicer or professional blender that will take the mess out of juicing her favorite fruits and veggies could be perfect since summer is around the corner. Is she a coffee connoisseur? The latest digital coffee machine or espresso maker is like giving your mom her own personal barista. If she already has a standing mixer, creative new attachments like a pasta maker or meat grinder also make thoughtful gifts and fun additions for her kitchen. Add a cookbook written by her favorite Food Network chef and you’ve got the perfect gift for your culinary queen.

Mom has never lost her sense of style. Michael Kors has gorgeous designer purses and wallets, which are always a no-fail gift. Want to give her something stylish but also a bit more personal? Jewelry is always appreciated — a cute charm bracelet adorned with significant charms or loving photos adds that extra level of Mother’s Day sweetness. You can always find a large selection at Pandora, Kay Jewelers, Zales or GD Diamond Palace. Replenish and refresh her beauty products and give her a brand new lipstick to add to her collection, or pick out a trendy makeup palette, gift bag, or brush set just for her. When in doubt, athome spa sets with lovely lotions, soaps, and scented candles never disappoint.

If Mom is the type who really prefers to pick out her own present, that’s quite all right, too! Show her you care and want her to pick out exactly what she wants by giving her a generous gift card or gift certificate to her favorite store. Don’t forget a heartfelt card to go with it — or a handmade one from the kids. Just remember — no matter what you end up choosing for her — don’t stress out too much; the fact that you went out on a special shopping trip just for her is the most thoughtful gift of all.

With free Wi-Fi, exclusive student discounts, a food court and more than 100 stores, The Mall at Bay Plaza is an ideal one-stop destination for shopping. Gifts for everyone on your list can be found at Macy’s, JC Penney, H&M, Forever 21, American Eagle, Victoria’s Secret, Michael Kors, Old Navy, Pandora, Ulta Beauty, Express, The White Barn Candle Company, Gap, Bath & Body Works, Kay Jewelers and Zales to name just a few mall options.

We asked Maranda Ashkar, director of mall management and marketing, for her tips on getting the most from your visit. She suggests “logging onto the free Wi-Fi, ‘bayplazamall,’ as soon as you enter the mall. That way you will get access to real time discounts, sales and breaking deals.”

The Mall at Bay Plaza continues to grow, offering shoppers more choices than ever. Ashkar says, “Shoppers will see new tenants joining, the most recent being Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH.” The 25,000-square-foot store will bring Saks OFF 5TH’s “thrill-of-the-hunt” experience to the largest shopping center in New York City.

Other recent additions to The Mall at Bay Plaza include XSport Fitness, Journeys Kidz and anchor tenant JC Penney, which added a 2,000-square-foot appliance department. To keep up with the latest news, deals and free community events, Ashkar suggests “visiting our website, liking us on Facebook and signing up for weekly emails.”

Join The Plaza Walking Club to enjoy a lively, climate-controlled environment while keeping active and healthy. A circuit of each level is about one mile long, so a complete walk of the

mall is approximately three miles—a respectable daily workout in anyone’s book! Walking club membersreceive a coupon booklet with discounts and savings from some of the mall’s top restaurants and retailers.

Ashkar’s final piece of advice: “Make shopping fun family time. Here, in addition to shopping, the kids can go down the slides at Billy Beez and eat pizza at Sbarro or catch a movie at the newly renovated AMC Theatre. And with more than 100 stores and three restaurants (Outback Steak House, Red Robin and Olive Garden), as well as a food court, The Mall at Bay Plaza offers food and entertainment for every taste.” For more information, visit www.mallatbayplaza.com, call (718) 208-2570, or just come to the mall and check it out for yourself. The Mall at Bay Plaza is located at 200 Baychester Ave. in the Bronx, and is open Monday-Saturday from 10 am-9:30 pm and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Keep on top of the latest news and trends—like The Mall at Bay Plaza on Facebook at www. facebook.com/ mallatbayplaza.
