Beware of me – Flynn

Adviser himself warned Don

PRESIDENT TRUMP pushed Michael Flynn into taking the job as his national security adviser even after the retired general warned him he was under investigation for lobbying for foreign governments, according to a report Thursday.

Flynn, who was forced to resign his position just weeks into the job after he admitted to misleading Vice President Pence about talks he had with a top Russian diplomat, “did not want to be national security adviser,” his friend Michael Ledeen told the Daily Beast.

Flynn “wanted to go back to private life” and was “reluctant” to accept the offer, Ledeen, who cowrote a 2016 book with Flynn, said. “But Trump insisted on it.”

Flynn reportedly informed the Trump transition team that he was under investigation by the FBI for working as a paid lobbyist for the Turkish government, but he still took the job — a decision that has resulted in a mess for both men.

The White House on Thursday denied that Flynn had informed them of his Turkish ties.

The disclosure about Flynn was far from the only development in the quickly worsening scandal surrounding disgraced former military man.

Several members of the Trump campaign, including Flynn, had 18 previously undisclosed discussions with Russia in the seven months before the election, multiple sources told Reuters.

The conversations began in April 2016, sources told the news service.

Sources familiar with the communications said that so far, there’s no sign of wrongdoing or collusion. But the Trump administration will likely face new scrutiny for not disclosing the conversations, as it has denied that his campaign had contacts with Russia during last year’s election.

It was also reported Thursday that Flynn has not been cooperating with a separate Senate Intelligence Committee investigating him and that he may reject its subpoena.

Yahoo News, meanwhile, reported that Flynn has remained in touch with the President.

“I just got a message from the President to stay strong,” Flynn reportedly told friends, the website said.
