It’s about time you visit the Statue of Liberty

-

There’s nothing more iconically American than the Statue of Liberty. A surprising number of people who catch a glimpse of her every day while commuting from Brooklyn, Staten Island or New Jersey, or working in Lower Manhattan, have never actually visited Lady Liberty or Ellis Island. If that applies to you, make it a point to get there this summer, on a tour from Statue Cruises.

There are three experiences in one Statue Cruises tour. First, you get an amazing view of Manhattan, and the Statue of Liberty, during your cruise on New York Harbor. Second, you can choose ground, pedestal or crown access to the Statue of Liberty National Monument. And third you receive admission to the Ellis Island National Immigration Museum and Wall of Honor.

Whether you choose to view her from the grounds of Liberty Island, go up onto her pedestal, or climb all the way to her crown, getting up close to the statue herself is always a highlight of the tour. Many visitors also find that the Ellis Island National Immigration Museum is an unforgettable experience all on its own. The museum outlines the long journeys so many immigrants made to New York City from all over the world, and what they endured to arrive at Ellis Island.

Statue Cruises leave from Lower Manhattan and from Jersey City, and it’s advisable to purchase tickets well in advance, especially for weekend visits. Ticket times indicate when you may enter the security facility that leads to the ferry--ferries leave every 35-40 minutes between 9 and 3:30pm, and you choose which ferry to take and when.
