Bourdais fractures pelvis in fiery crash

Sebastien Bourdais will have surgery Saturday night to repair a fractured pelvis after a fiery crash in Indianapol­is 500 qualifying.

Indiana University Methodist Hospital doctors told track officials that the 38-yearold Frenchman had multiple fractures in his pelvis and a fractured right hip

He slammed head-on into the second turn wall after completed two laps at over 231 mph, the fastest laps of the day.

l Kyle Busch used a bold three-wide pass for the lead Saturday night to win NASCAR’s annual All-Star race for the first time.

Although the race does not count in the standings, it was Busch’s first Cup victory of the season and first at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Busch also won the Truck Series race Friday night, but the victory Saturday was worth a cool $1 million.

HAHN TAKES LEAD

James Hahn shot a bogey-free 6-under 64 to take the lead after three rounds at the AT&T Byron Nelson, where Jason Kokrak’s record advantage disappeare­d.

Hahn settled for a 12-under 198 total after his eagle chance at the 16th and a birdie putt at 17 both stopped just inches short. He was a stroke ahead of Billy Horschel, who birdied his last three holes for a 66 to take second place alone.

Jason Day had his own string of birdies, five in a row midway through the round and then a 60-footer at the 17th.

VIKES COACH SURGERY

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer says he had more surgery on his right eye, where he suffered a detached retina last year. Zimmer told reporters about the latest procedure Saturday during his foundation’s first youth football camp.

The Star Tribune reports that Zimmer says he had the surgery Wednesday. It’s the eighth surgery he’s had since Nov. 1.

NOVAK TO FINAL

Novak Djokovic won twice on Saturday to play for another Italian Open title, his first final since January. Djokovic, the fourtime champion, will play Alexander “Sascha” Zverev, the youngest Masters Series finalist at 20 since Djokovic won Miami a decade ago at 19.

The day could have dragged on for Djokovic, but he closed out Juan Martin del Potro quickly 6-1, 6-4 in their quarterfin­al suspended overnight because of rain.
