Fiend’s last call to mom: ‘Forgive me’
ENGLAND MOURNS
THE COLD-HEARTED concert killer sought forgiveness from his mother before slaughtering innocent children.
Just 15 minutes before setting off his nail-packed explosive outside of an Ariana Grande show, British suicide bomber Salman Abedi made a final phone call to his mom, Libyan officials said Thursday.
“Forgive me,” Abedi asked as he prepared to murder 22 people in Manchester, England, on Monday. Abedi’s mother, 50-year-old nuclear scientist Samia Tabbal, said her son left Libya four days before the attack, telling his parents he was headed to Saudi Arabia on a pilgrimage to Mecca.
But he called her Monday, “giving farewell,” according to special deterrent force spokesman Ahmed Bin Salem.
Based on the account of his younger brother, Hashim, investigators think Abedi learned how to make a bomb online and was seeking “victory for the Islamic State,” Bin Salem said. Hashim, 20, told investigators he knew of his sibling’s plot and was planning his own in the Libyan capital of Tripoli.
