Driver speeding in hit of family

A NEW JERSEY man caught on camera being beaten by a group of cops while on fire remains in critical condition, his family told the Daily News on Thursday.

“He’s in bad shape,” the man’s mother, Rosa Feliz said, adding that her son, 28-year-old Miguel Feliz, underwent surgery at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J., on Thursday. “It’s been really hard, especially what happened to my son.”

“You can only imagine how I feel,” she added.

Leo Pinkston, 48, drove into Feliz’s car while evading cops in Jersey City on Sunday, authorities said.

The impact caused Feliz’s vehicle to go up in flames.

Feliz’s brother Ramon told Univision that his brother was on his way home and “at the wrong place at the wrong time.”

He told the TV station he immediately recognized the burning man as his brother Miguel because of the way he got out of his car.

Video footage of the scene taken by a witness shows Feliz (photo) rolling out of his fiery vehicle as police surround him.

The officers are shown kicking and pummeling him as they drag him to the street.

Hudson County prosecutors said that after reviewing the video, they are certain Miguel wasn’t involved in the Pinkston chase.

Criminal charges will be filed against the officers, who haven’t been identified, Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop tweeted, adding that he wants the officers fired.

The Jersey City Police Officer Benevolent Association, the union that represents the cops, said they were only trying to extinguish the flames consuming Feliz.

Pinkston, of Jersey City, faces charges of aggravated assault and eluding police, authorities said. AN UNLICENSED teen motorist was speeding when he jumped a curb in Queens and slammed into a mom and two kids , according to prosecutors.

Ahjad Saleh, 18, claimed he lost control of his Dodge Charger while making a turn on Seagirt Ave. near Beach 32nd St. in Edgemere at about 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

He hopped over the curb and onto the sidewalk and slammed into the 31-yearold mom and her sons, ages 3 and 1, authorities said.

The woman suffered a broken collarbone and a concussion, while the 3-yearold sustained a cut over his left eye, and the 1-year-old suffered a broken leg and abdominal bleeding, court records show.

“I was speeding around 50 and 60,” Saleh told cops, according to court records. “I am trying to make a right turn. I try to hold the (brake) and the car starts to slide into the sidewalk. I hit a woman and two kids.”

The posted speed limit on city streets is 25 mph.

Saleh was arraigned Thursday on assault, reckless endangerment, driving without a license and reckless driving charges. Bail was set at $50,000 bond, $25,000 cash.

The mother and her two boys were taken to Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
