Place your bets and also enjoy fine dining, topflight

- BY MICHAEL KAMINER

HERE’S A sure bet for a great time this summer. Head to one of the area’s casinos, which showcase great dining, A-list entertainment, splashy spas and — oh, yes — gaming, all under one roof. For a day, a weekend, or more, they’re great getaways.

Bonus: Empire City Casino is just 20 minutes from from northern parts of NYC, and up-and-coming Yonkers is worth a visit on its own.

Resorts Atlantic City’s won many industry awards for its phenomenal dining options, including Gallagher’s steakhouse and beach-themed Margaritaville. This summer, Resorts should also get a medal for most creative entertainment programming. Where else can you catch ex-Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil (June 23), classic-rock legends The Yardbirds (July 7) and uproarious comedy “My Big Gay Italian Funeral” (July 28) in the same venue? There’s also great theater on Resorts’ gaming floor — 100,000 square feet of 24/7 excitement. (1 Mohegan Sun Blvd., Uncasville, Conn.; mohegansun.com)
