GIANTS wide receiver Brandon Marshall does not appear to be a fan of the new Republican Senate health care bill, and Marshall reached out via Twitter to President Trump to try to get some face time with the leader of the free world to discuss the issue.

“@realDonaldTrump can we speak about the ACA Bill? I figured this was the easiest way to reach you.. #mentalhealth,” Marshall tweeted Thursday. The “ACA” refers to the Affordable Care Act, which was implemented during the Obama administration and provided the majority of Americans with health insurance.

If the Republican-controlled Senate is successful in passing the bill, numerous benefits that the ACA requires, such as maternity care and treatment for mental health conditions, may be in jeopardy of getting dropped by states.

Marshall, who was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder in 2011, is an advocate for mental health awareness and treatment.

“The longer it goes untreated, the worse it gets. For me, my life was just spiraling out of control. I had loved ones and friends just loving on me and just trying to talk to me about getting the help that I needed. That’s why it’s so important for us to talk about it. I didn’t know what was going on. To be quite frank, I don’t think the people around me, up until the last second, really understood what was going on with me, ‘cause they didn’t know,” Marshall said in a video that was part of a 2015 For the Win/ USA Today Sports report. “Before I was at McLean Hospital (in Boston), if someone had said mental health to me, the first thing that came to mind was mental toughness, masking pain, hiding, keeping it in … that’s what was embedded in me since I was a kid. You know, never show a sign of weakness. And it’s funny, because now I know it’s the total opposite. It’s being able to have the strength to pick up the phone and ask someone for help.”
