A WESTCHESTER County high school student who was detained by federal immigration officials hours before his senior prom was deported Friday, authorities said.

Diego Puma, 19, and his mother Rosa Macancela were shipped back to Ecuador three years after illegally arriving in the U.S. seeking refuge from gang violence in their homeland.

In a statement, Immigration and Customs Enforcement said it booted out the pair “in accordance with their final orders of removal.”

Puma (photo) made national headlines after he was detained at his cousin’s Ossining home on June 8, the day of his senior prom.

The teen, who was juggling two jobs along with his school work, was hiding out at his relative’s house because ICE agents had arrested his mother the day before.

The pair’s ordeal began in 2014 when they were arrested upon entering the U.S. without proper documentation.

Puma and his mother applied for asylum and were allowed to remain in Ossining pending a decision.

Despite having committed no crimes after their release, a judge signed a deportation order on Nov. 16.

The mother and son, after being arrested, were sent to different detention facilities.

Puma twice filed unsuccessful petitions to block his planned deportation.

ICE claimed that Puma was involved in gang activity in Ecuador.

Federal immigration officials stood by the claim even after the Ecuadorian government sent a letter saying Puma had no known gang ties.

During the two-week saga, more than 22,500 people had signed a petition calling for federal immigration officials to release Puma.

“Diego is not a criminal, he is a young man full of dreams, he deserves an opportunity,” it read.

News of Puma’s deportation triggered anguished social media posts.

“Diego Puma was deported to Ecuador today. HS student working 2 jobs,” wrote one supporter on Twitter. “Horrible to see my hometown become Trumpland.”
