JOE SCARBOROUGH, a longtime pal of President Trump, says he’s changed since taking office. “He’s obviously been outspoken and self-centered and had a narcissistic streak, but there was in the past almost a nod a wink that he was game,” he said. “That has changed over the last year, year and a half, and he has changed over the past year, year and a half. Even people close to him have told me that during the campaign they’d noticed a real change.” The “Morning Joe” host and ex-Republican congressman from Florida (inset) is busy promoting his debut EP “Mystified,” which features a heavy dose of sex and drugs. In “Superbad,” the MSNBC personality, 54, warbles about a model named Joanie who likes “disco boys, cocaine and sexshop toys,” while in “Girl Like That,” he describes “Sandy” who’s “doin’ bumps down at NYU.” Scarborough, who describes his style as indie pop, told the Daily News that he’s written hundreds of songs since he was 14 and would like to release an EP every month for at least the next few years. He also plays regularly at Prohibition on the Upper West Side and had a record release party last week at the Cutting Room.
“Mystified” includes a shoutout to fiancée and “Morning Joe” co-host Mika
Brzezinski in the song “Let’s Fall in Love.” And as for that reported offer by Trump to host the nuptials at Mar-aLago, Scarborough demurs.
“No, I don’t think so,” he replied laughingly. “I think it’s going to be a very quiet, lowkey wedding, whenever that happens.”
He says being on air together every weekday has only strengthened their relationship.
“We’ve always known that no matter what happens, we’ve got to resolve it before we see each other at 5 a.m. and get ready for the show at 6,” he explains. “We always have a deadline. We’ve always had to get it resolved by 6, and that always means we go through whatever process we go through till we get to ‘I’m sorry.’ ”
He does ruefully note that Brzezinski, daughter of the late national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski, is a shrewd negotiator, “so she’s far more successful at getting the ‘I’m sorrys’ out of me than I am from her.”
