KNOWLES WAY!

BET winner Solange snubs Bey in ‘thank yous’

- BY KATE FELDMAN and LEONARD GREENE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

SOLANGE KNOWLES took home her first trophy from the BET Awards on Sunday night — and gave shoutouts to everybody but her big sister. Fans were hoping the “Cranes in the Sky” singer would at least say a couple of words about Beyoncé’s newborn twins when she received the network’s Centric Award. But Knowles’ acknowledgments included a generic “my family” mention, although she did send special love to her husband and son. Knowles visited Beyoncé and her husband, Jay Z, at L.A.’s Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center after the twins were born this month, according to a report, but it was unclear why she left her sister off her thank you list. “I just want to thank BET for my teenage years, giving me images of queens like Missy Elliot and Lil’ Kim and Aaliyah and Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill and Kelis and Reese, and the list goes on,” Knowles said. “It’s the best birthday ever,” said the singer, who turned 31 on Saturday. Knowles did lose out to her more famous sister in the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist category. Beyoncé, 35, who was up for seven awards, did not not attend this year’s star-studded event. Other winners included hiphop trio Migos, who won for Best Group, and Chance the Rapper, 24, who took home the Humanitarian Award. New Edition received the Lifetime Achievement Award — and thrilled the crowd with a medley of their hits. Rapper Remy Ma, 37, completed her comeback, winning best female hip hop artist after a six-year prison stretch for shooting a friend in a money beef. Missing from the show was rapper Nicki Minaj, whose feud with Remy Ma has launched back-and-forth diss tracks. The show was hosted by “Saturday Night Live” star Leslie Jones and included performances by Mary J. Blige, DJ Khaled, El DeBarge and Bruno Mars, who also won for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist. Despite an upbeat mood, the cast of “Detroit” took a moment to remember victims of police killings. Laz Alonso, Algee Smith, Jacob Latimore and Jason Mitchell listed almost a dozen names on stage, including Freddie Gray, Eric Garner, Michael Brown and Philando Castile. They also remembered Sandra Bland, who died in a Texas jail. “We have the power to use our voices, art, to influence change,” the cast said before presenting Knowles with her award.
