Tom Giglio and his wife, Ela, celebrated marriage with massive fireworks display in their backyard early Saturday morning — but the groom spent their wedding night in a Long Island jail cell.

A LONG ISLAND marriage started with a bang — but the wedding party ended with a bust.

Nassau County cops broke up a raucous backyard wedding celebration in Massapequa early Saturday and arrested the groom for setting off a professional-level pyrotechnic show.

Neighbors of 39-year-old Thomas Giglio complained about the massive fireworks show being set off behind his home.

The bomb squad responded to the Riverdale Ave. address about 12:15 a.m. as huge blossoms of color lit up the night sky and the sound of bursting rockets ricocheted off the siding of the street’s suburban homes.

“When you thought it was over, it just kept going,” said one neighbor who was displeased with the startling display. “It went on for a really long time.”

Police walked the yard and discovered “a large wedding party along with large professional fireworks being discharged,” cops said.

While the shindig was in full swing, detectives searched the property and discovered “49 pyrotechnic mortars, a pyrotechnic display cake and numerous firecrackers,” according to cops.

A pyrotechnic cake is a commercial-grade display that shoots numerous shells into the sky.

When cops approached the firebug of a groom, Giglio ’fessed up to setting off the fireworks and was arrested.

“It’s a shame that he gets arrested on his wedding day,” said a second neighbor who declined to give her name. “They’re very nice people and I’m sure they went through a lot of expense to have a nice fireworks display and a nice party to celebrate their wedding and it’s just a shame.”

Giglio was charged with possession of fireworks without a license, a felony. He was arraigned in 1st District Court in Hempstead and his bail was set at $5,000 bond or $2,500 cash, according to a spokesman for the Nassau County district attorney’s office.

It’s unclear if he was planning a honeymoon, but he is due back in court Tuesday.

His bride, Ela Giglio, 34, did not respond to requests for comment, but did post a photo of the pair’s big day on Facebook.

The two are all smiles as they ride in the back of a limo in the wedding day snapshot.

A woman wearing a black sun hat arrived at the home Saturday night — and left 15 minutes later with a suitcase. She ignored a reporter’s questions.

Some residents of the quiet cul-de-sac were stunned that the cops were called over a fireworks display just days after pyrotechnics filled the air for the Fourth of July. “A nice family having a beautiful occasion get picked on, but there are squatters and drug dealers all over the neighborhood and they arrest him,” one neighbor said. “They’re good people, they’re good neighbors.”
