Charges vs. dancer are downgraded

- BY SHAYNA JACOBS

PROSECUTORS have declined to bring a rape case against model and choreographer Bijan Williams, charging him only with giving booze to the teen who accused him of sexual assault, court papers show.

Williams, 34, who goes by “RythmiK,” was released on his own recognizance at his arraignment late Sunday in Manhattan Criminal Court, where charges were downgraded from sexually assaulting an intoxicated 17-year-old girl.

The girl, who knows Williams, called police and said she woke up to Williams having sex with her at the Maritime Hotel on W. 16th St. in Chelsea early Sunday, sources previously said.

Cops booked him on rape and unlawful imprisonment charges, but the Manhattan district attorney’s office provided only a misdemeanor complaint, which was all that was presented to a judge at his arraignment.

The DA’s office declined to comment on its decision to back off the sexual assault case.

It was not clear if they were continuing to investigate the more serious allegations against the professional dancer, who has worked with JAY-Z, Beyoncé and Madonna, according to an online biography.

Williams covered his face with a towel as he left the courthouse Sunday night facing significantly lesser charges than he had been hours earlier.

An order of protection was issued for the teen, barring Williams (photo inset) from having any contact with her.

His shabby look in court — a gloomy expression and a gray hoodie — was a far cry from the wellpolished one the performer shows in public.

He was taken into custody after the girl’s call to the NYPD about 5:30 a.m.

The teen also allegedly told police he fell asleep in front of the hotel room’s door and kept her from leaving.

Williams is due back in court Aug. 9 to face charges of unlawfully dealing with a child and prohibited sale of alcohol to a minor.

His attorney Juan San Pedro could not be reached for comment.
