In October 2016, England underwent a total hip replacemen­t, followed by months of physical therapy.

Soon she was dancing and singing again — without pain — and her work offers increased.

“I would not be able to work now if I had not, by the grace of God and the Actors Fund and Actors’ Equity, gotten affordable health care,” England said. “It totally saved me.”

England remains enrolled in the Affordable Care Act — but now that her earnings are up, she pays more into the system.

“I can’t imagine what my life would be like without it — and I just hope that it doesn’t get taken away,” she said.
