PEARLS AT THE PARK

Dining gems near B’klyn green space

- BY RACHEL WHARTON

Remarkably, the B train station at Prospect Park isn’t yet overrun with tourists, even though it’s just a block from the southern entrances to the park and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. And neither are the local businesses in this Prospect Lefferts Gardens nabe, which include these three eateries that are a short walk from the station. One even serves a shark burger, if you’re looking to take “Shark Week” — debuting on the Discovery Channel this Sunday — a step further.

Fish-n-chips, West Indian style

Fresh seafood joints are a dime a dozen in many New York neighborhoods — where you choose a piece of fish to be fried or steamed to order — but Jus Fishy is in a class of its own.

This is a Trinidadian fish shack, meaning your steamed or grilled snapper, salmon or shark (to name a few options) comes with two sides like steamed okra, caramelized sweet plantains, or West Indian-style lo mein. Fried combos — which may star mains like filets, jumbo shrimp, or a whole crispy tilapia — come with fried green plantains or sweet potato or regular fries. (Meals run from $8 to $15, depending on your choice of seafood.)

There are also Trini soups; specials like jerk shrimp; and the steamed kingfish with callaloo and cornmeal pudding called coocoo ($15, Fridays only). And several kinds of fish burgers can be topped with cucumber, pineapple and Jus Fishy’s sweet and creamy “secret sauce.” (The options run from $9 for shark to $10 for crab; there are also veggie versions.)

What you won’t find is much seating, but no worries — this tiny takeout spot is two blocks from the Lincoln Road entrance to Prospect Park.
