MATT’S PLACED ON DL

As expected, Matt Holliday was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left lumbar strain. The move is retroactive to Aug. 5. Garrett Cooper was recalled from Triple-A Scranton in a corresponding roster move.

Joe Girardi said the team plans to rotate at DH while Holliday is out.

Holliday, 37, hasn’t been the same since returning from a viral infection, hitting .136 (11-for-81) since the All-Star break.
