Boomer says he ‘likely’ has CTE, thinks most do

-

Boomer Esiason thinks he may have CTE because he played football.

“If I died tomorrow and my brain was taken and researched and I was found to have CTE, which most likely I have,” Esiason said Monday morning on WFAN's “Boomer and Carton.” “Because I think all football players probably have it.”

Esiason’s comments come two weeks after a joint study conducted by the VA Boston Healthcare System and Boston University School of Medicine, which found that all but one of the 111 NFL players’ brains donated to research after their deaths were found to contain CTE. PGA TO MAY

The PGA of America is moving its major championship to May for the first time in 70 years when it goes to Bethpage Black on Long Island in 2019 as part of a long-term plan that involves a major shift in the golf calendar, including The Players Championship going back to its March date, The Associated Press has learned. The catalyst behind the movement was golf’s return to the Olympics, along with the PGA Tour’s desire to wrap up its FedEx Cup before the NFL begins. FORMER PAT RETIRES

Former New England and Houston defensive tackle Vince

Wilfork announced his retirement from the NFL after 13 seasons, including the last two in Houston. He was named to five Pro Bowls and helped the Patriots win two Super Bowls. BONDS EYED 800

On the 10th anniversary of breaking baseball’s all-time home run record, Barry Bonds told AP that he believes he would have hit 800 homers or come very close.

Bonds said it “stung” to walk away from a 22-year career after a record-setting 2007 season with the San Francisco Giants in which he topped Hank Aaron’s mark.

Bonds finished with 762 home runs. “I should have played one more year,” he said.
