Biker blames NYCHA truck in hit-&-run
A CYCLIST WHO was badly hurt in a hit-and-run crash last week suspects that a city-owned pickup truck is to blame.
Photos included in a court petition filed Thursday on behalf of Andrea Dibben show a dent on a white NYCHA truck and dark paint that could match her bike.
Dibben was struck on Aug. 2 at 9:40 a.m. while riding in a busy Brooklyn bike lane near the Manhattan Bridge. The 30-year-old says the truck made an illegal left turn as she was cruising on Sands St. through Gold St.
Dibben lost several teeth and suffered a broken collarbone, a cracked sternum, torn ligaments and a punctured lung.
Vaccaro noticed the city vehicle while searching for video camera evidence. “The truck had a dent on the passenger-side exactly where there would be a dent, and color that was approximately the color on her bike,” he said.
His petition, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, seeks an order that NYCHA preserve video that potentially captured the crash, as well as the truck itself.
