Man charged with murder

POLICE HAVE charged the unhinged man they say stabbed his mother’s roommate to death following a staredown at their Brooklyn apartment, authorities said Friday.

Cops hit Michael Dunne with murder charges Thursday in the fatal stabbing of Annmarie Vardy, 52, in front of his mother and 19-yearold daughter in their Bay Ridge home.

After a brief staredown, Dunne, 42, grabbed a knife and plunged it into Vardy about 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, according to cops. He then chased the wounded woman through the apartment they shared, hacking at her as his terrified mother and daughter looked on.

Family members said Dunne is schizophrenic and does not visit his doctor or take his medication.
