METS GAMEDAY

- By KRISTIE ACKERT

PHILADELPHIA — So far, the future looks OK. With the Mets focusing the rest of this season on preparing the kids for next year, they got off to a solid start Friday. Rookie Amed Rosario knocked his first big-league home run, the go-ahead leadoff homer in the top of the ninth. Dominic Smith got a hit in his major-league debut and Michael Conforto continued to thrive in the cleanup spot as the Mets rallied to beat the Phillies 7-6 at Citizens Bank Park.

The Mets (52-61) won their second straight and their fifth straight over the Phillies (42-71) on the road . With home runs from Conforto and Yoenis Cespedes, the Mets continued their bombardment of this bandbox with 53 homers over their last 24 games here.

Rosario, with nine games big league experience on Smith, notched his first multi-hit game with two singles and the homer. He also scored three times.

“Even though I’ve had a bad couple of days, this really helps my confidence,” Rosario said. “I try not to think too much about what’s happened in the past. This really helps.”

Smith got his first hit, a ground ball up the middle into shallow center field for a single in the fourth inning.

Conforto hit his second home run in as many days and his fourth homer and his sixth RBI in his last six games. He has extended his career-high with 25 home runs this season and his 11th since the All-Star break.
