Shane Smith seems to be McAdoo’s early favorite. In eight offensive snaps, Smith made a nine-yard reception, looked solid in pass protection, and helped clear a hole for Paul Perkins’ 2-yard run on 4th-and-1 at the Steelers’ five. Jacob Huesman, the Giants’ other fullback, played only one snap on offense. Smith also saw nine snaps on special teams to Huesman’s five. McAdoo said he liked Smith’s special teams play and added that he has “fluidity for a big guy,” which could help him on special teams to make the squad. The coach also said Smith “can be sharper in his details from the fullback spot.”
