Now it’s Seattle’s turn
HUNDREDS of protesters and counterprotesters clashed in the streets of Seattle on Sunday — a day after a white nationalist rally exploded into violence in Virginia.
The rally in Westlake Park was organized by a conservative proTrump group, Patriot Prayer.
Some counterprotesters carried signs saying “Kill Nazis,” and “Die Nazi Scum.” Seattle police said there were several arrests.
Video of the scene showed a heavy police presence with some apparently using pepper spray on some marchers.
A barricade separated protesters and counterprotesters as police officers stood by dressed in black riot gear. At one intersection, police ordered crowds to disperse. “These people are fascists, let’s not split hairs,” Cliff Cawthon of affordablehousing organization SAFE in Seattle told the Seattle PostIntelligencer before the march. “We have to counter them everywhere.."
The Seattle rally was scheduled before the one in Charlottesville, Va., which claimed the lives of three people: a 32-year-old woman and two state troopers.
