Sterling returns, and looks sharp

-

Sterling Shepard practiced in full on Sunday for the first time since spraining his left ankle in a non-contract drill on Aug. 2, finally putting Ben McAdoo’s full, first-team offense back on the field.

And Shepard looked quick, catching several Eli Manning passes out of the slot against a defense, though the Giants weren’t tackling.

Shane Vereen also saw his most extensive action in camp as a frequent Manning target. Vereen had surgery on a torn triceps muscle last season and then was sidelined early in this camp with “low leg soreness,” so the Giants are being cautious.

“(Vereen) was a guy we started slow with,” McAdoo said after Sunday’s practice. “We built him up. He looks like he feels pretty good out there right now, and we’ll continue to build him up, increase his workload.”

Linebackers Keenan Robinson (concussion, Aug. 2) and Mark Herzlich (stinger) both were in full uniform at practice for the first time since their respective injuries but practiced non-contact. as the second QB practice-topractice so far in camp.
