THE HIGH SCHOOL football player charged with killing his mother’s abusive ex-boyfriend in the Bronx told cops he held him in a chokehold for two minutes until he “fell asleep,” sources said.

The struggle with Stanley Washington, 43, left Luis Moux, 18, with bite marks on his forearm and knee.

Moux was arraigned on manslaughter charges in Bronx criminal court Tuesday, as his lawyer insisted the teen did nothing wrong.

“Some animal tried to hurt his mother and he did what any good young man would do,” Walter Fields said after the brief court appearance. “This is the kind of kid that we’d all be proud to call our son.”

More than 20 people — including friends, relatives, teammates carrying jerseys, his principal and coach — were there to support Moux. It was fairly quiet in the courtroom until the judge ordered the teen held on $25,000 cash bail and Moux was led away in cuffs. Some of his supporters burst out in tears.

“Papi, I love you!” screamed his mother, Lorena Sesma, 37.

Hours later, Moux was released on bail. Sesma hugged her son and pulled a black hoodie over his face.

“God bless!” friends and family shouted. “Thank you, Jesus!”

New details emerged Tuesday about the fatal clash and a history of domestic assaults by Washington.

Sesma previously obtained a restraining order against the exboyfriend, relatives said, but it was unclear whether served.

“That man used to beat her constantly,” the teen’s aunt, Angela Carrasquillo, said of Washington. “She always had bruises on her face. He even assaulted my mother before. He punched my mother in the back of the head.”

Asked about her nephew, she said, “Luis is doing OK.”

Carrasquillo, 40, added that Moux’s incarcerated father is “heartbroken” over the incident.

Washington had been arrested 33 times in the past for crimes ranging from assault to criminal possession of a weapon to menacing, criminal trespass and possession and sale of marijuana, sources said.

Moux, a student at Progress it was High School for Professional Careers in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, was in his bedroom at 4:30 a.m. Monday when Sesma began arguing with Washington in the hallway of her University Heights apartment.

When Sesma retreated into her apartment, Washington followed and punched her repeatedly in the head, sources said. Moux, a 220-pound offensive lineman, pulled him off Sesma. As the two were struggling, the teen wrapped his arm around Washington’s neck.

Sesma initially told cops she briefly passed out, sources said, and woke up to find her son standing over her ex, but later reversed course and said she was conscious the entire time.

She also confirmed to cops there had been prior domestic violence incidents between her and Washington.

In 2014, cops were called to break up a dispute. In 2016, sources said the ex-boyfriend assaulted Sesma and beat up an older woman.
