Durant says he’ll ‘never’ play for Knicks

- BY STEFAN BONDY

Not that he was a part of their plans anymore, but the Knicks may want to scrap any ideas of recruiting Kevin Durant — now and forever.

In his own promotional video filmed during his recent stop in NYC, Durant included a clip of a fan in the street asking the Finals MVP, “When are you going to play for the Knicks, man?”

His response couldn’t have been more final. “Never,” he said. The exchange was during a light-hearted moment while Durant posed for a photo with the young fan, so maybe he was just messing around.

But hey, it’s believable since the Knicks are more of a punchline than a desirable destination these days.

It also jibes with his previous explanation for not meeting with the Knicks during his free agency in 2016.

“Simple. Because I didn’t want to,” he said last season.

Durant re-signed with the Warriors last month but can become a free agent again next summer.

During his stop in the Big Apple, Durant played pick-up-ball with former Olympic teammates Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James. He also unveiled a newly-renovated court at East Side Community High School in the East Village.

In the same video, Durant called New York, “the so-called Mecca of basketball,” before clarifying that meant the city was No. 2 behind his hometown of Washington, D.C.
